Celebrities and Iditarod
This must be the week to meet new dog friends. I met Izzy earlier this week. She was the doggie who was wearing a fabulous home made ribbon necklace. (see photo to the left)Then, yesterday I met Eskies Stryker and Gypsy who live up in Alaska! It turns out they know my great great uncle Sitka. Is that cool or what? On my Mother's side, my Grandfather and Sitka's Grandfather were brothers. Also Juneau Arnold is full brother to Sitka.
Do you all know who Juneau Arnold is? He is the celebrity in the family. Ch Silveroaks Juneau Arnold won at Westminster for Best of Breed last month and his son Primo (Ch Silveroaks First & Foremost) won in February 2006. Here is a little bio on Juneau Arnold copied from the AED Showcase.
It sure is nice being related to a famous dog, isn't it? Yeah, Juneau is related to famous ME! Haha! Hey, I'm the one who started the ribbon necklace fad, didn't I?!
Guess where my new friends in Alaska went last weekend!!! They went to see the start of the Iditarod 2007 in Willow, Alaska!! That is so cool, isn't it? It's like going to the Oscars so I hear. (Hey Zach, have you seen the Iditarod before?) Stryker and Gypsy even got a picture of themselves at the starting line. They told me I could post their picture on my bloggy, so here it is:

Boy, I sure wish I could go visit Alaska's Iditarod Race. But, I'd be afraid the Mushers would want ME to pull the sleds! You can betcha I'm not gonna let THAT happen! I'm a happy house dog, not a sled dog.
Hey, is the Iditarod race still going on? I think it is! I'd better check the race coverage to see what's happening.
Updated: hey, hey. There is a local newspaper article about a keychain geocaching it's way from here (San Carlos, California) all the way up to Alaska, to the Iditarod, and it is on a sled right this very minute!! It's being held by Martin Buser, a four-time Iditarod winner.
p.s. The article is also here on the Iditarod web site.

Fame seems to run in your family! That's really cool that you know a famous relative. We don't know who we are related to.
Hey Hana! I was watching the 2007 Eukanuba Tournament of Champions that was in Portland (It may have been old tv- I don't know, but it did say 2007) And low and behold...who did I see? Primo! He won best of breed, and he took third in the group! The announcer even made reference to Randy The handler, that you have probably seen Randy before with Juneau! And then the guy said something about retirement...did Juneau retire?
Ender Ender! I did not watch the Portland show, but yeah, I heard Primo won Best of Breed, and that he took something in group. If it was 3rd, that is pretty darn good, don't cha say? My sources told me late last year that Juneau might very well retire. Did the announcer say for sure if Juneau is retiring? Maybe Primo (son of Juneau) will take Juneau's place at being the celebrity of our family.
Hey hey, lately my mom has been telling me that I'm looking a lot like you. Heehee!
Oh, the Iditarod is a race for sissy dogs. All the really tough dogs run the Yukon Quest - which runs between Fairbanks and Dawson City, Yukon (Canada). I haven't seen the Iditarod but my Mom has seen both the beginning in Anchorage and the end in Nome.
wow! i luv geofindin' stuff! that is so cool that a geocache keychain is racin with the iditarodogs!
