We want to thank all of you for your messages of support during this difficult time. Hana passed away one week ago today. The house is very quiet without her. There are so many things that remind us of her. When we look over at the window ledge, she should be there spying on all the neighbors. When we're getting food to eat, she'd be glued to our side, her hot breath at our knee, begging politely for treats. When we're watching TV in the family room, she'dsit close by, but just far enough so we can't touch her since she liked her elbow room. When we're at In-N-Out, she'd be sitting in the back seat, drooling for french fries. When we're getting ready for bed, she'd be in her little bed next to ours, making cute little loud snores.
All the tributes to Hana... what can I say... it's been overwhelming to know how much she meant to so many of you. We are thankful to know you and honored to be a part of Dogs With Blogs. We owe a special thank you to
Ender, Hana's nephew, for introducing us to the dog blogging world. And a special thanks to
Casper D Dog, for introducing us to the
Eskie Board. It was because of them that we learned about and became part of this wonderful dog (and cat, and hamsterrier) group, and we have a record of so many of the dogventures Hana took us on.
We have not posted anything since we made the difficult announcement, but we have seen the tributes to Hana and we'll be thanking each and every one of you when we are more up for posting. Your phone calls, messages, tributes and support mean so much to us. We can only hope that Hana is looking down on us so that she knows how much she meant to all of you.
During this past week, we've been in constant emotional turmoil, reviewing the events that occurred on that evening and questioning our decision. After talking to a number of you, we believe we made the right decision, though we still keep second guessing ourselves. We did NOT want Hana to suffer. She led a good life, and as her parents, it was our responsibility to help her go peacefully. It was such a difficult decision to make. We don't wish that on anyone.
Tonight we picked up Hana's ashes. They are in a little wood box, with her name on it, that sits on our nightstand. We also have her paw print in clay and a lock of her fur. Her collar and leash also sit on our nightstand.
Thank you so much for caring about our little furbaby, Hana the Dog. We will miss her greatly and will never forget her. She brought so much joy to us. She was the sparkle in our lives.
