Question for Cooks

My mom has a question to ask you about cooking. On Thanksgiving Day, my parents and visitors ate turkey. My mom had cut the turkey for the visitors and then saved the bones to make a broth later. For the broth, all she added was the turkey bones and filled the pot up with water and boiled it. She did not purposely add in any of the turkey sauce or drippings. After refrigerating it, she skimmed off the fat. Well, under the fat, the broth was really thick. It was like gelatin or jello. This was the first time her broth turned to gelatin. It is still okay to drink and use, right?

I think so but I am a dog, what do I know. My Mom says you are 'ambitious' whatever that means.

it sure is okay to use! The bones have something in them that acts like gelatin so the broth can get thick. When you use it just add more water!
here's what my grams recipe says (and I have found it to be true) :Generally, the broth will be quite thick and jelly-like. This is good. When you heat it to make soup, it will be great! Keep the broth a week or two in the frig or freeze it for soup later.

Oh yes, Mom and Dennis have made broth and that stuff always turns to goo in the fridge.. we like to eat it cold if they'll give it to us! Amazing how that stuff heats up to soup again. We usually have just chicken broth if they make any. I imagine turkey broth is even better!

Hi, Hanna
My grandma has the same opinion as Murphey's lady. Just add some water and it will be fine when you use it!
Have a good night
