Loooong Car Ride from CA to AZ

I had a loooong 12 hour car ride to Arizona to attend to some business. You would not believe all the signs I saw that had to do with animals. There were ads for the San Diego Zoo, lots of exit signs to roads like Big Bear Rd, Quail Run, or Crazy Horse Rd, and signs for insurance companies with animals on their ads. Practically every other sign had something to do with an animal. Next time you're driving from San Francisco on the I-5 or I-10 going from the L.A. area to Arizona, take a close look. Our 12 hour car ride included lots of pit stops at fast food restaurants to get a quick bite to eat, to stretch our legs, or to let my dad out to pee.

Since the trip was for business, I didn't get many fun pictures to show you, but here are a few I managed to take.

If you look closely at my lunchbox, you will see it has lots of doggies on it!

Yikes!! This was in Blythe, California, basically out in the middle of nowhere. When I saw this sign, I was afraid my parents were dropping me off at the prison. Well, we went right past the prison, thank dogness. As for the hitchhiker sign, it sure scared me. We did see a chihuahua with a guy (ex-convict or escapee?) on the side of the road... I was tempted to help out my fellow dog... but in the end, I drove past them. I hope I did the right thing. Poor doggie out in the middle of the desert.

Double Yikes!! Whoa, Bees? Where? Are these killer bees? I will not be stopping for water, no sir! The middle of nowhere is not a friendly place.

Triple Yikes!! What's animal abandonment? Oh, ok, my mom just explained it to me. Why on earth would anyone abandon their pet? And why would anyone drive all the way TO THE DESERT to abandon their pet?

Judging from those signs we just saw earlier, I don't think Arizona is very welcoming.

I like car rides, but this is just way too long. Oh, I love blankies, I love to get on tiptop of the blankies so I can be Queen of the Blankies, oh so sleepy.....

Dad, what are ya doing behind my back? (this is not a very flattering picture of me, but my mom insisted that I post it)

I finally get my OWN bed!! (by the way, this bed is a small twin size bed. It is NOT a queen bed as the picture angle might indicate. I am not that big!)

Don't I look nice against the colorful bedspread?

I am so tired from running around all day on business.

At first I thought these were horsies. Upon closer look at their faces, I thought they were donkeys. But, donkeys are not supposed to be as big as horsies. Later, I showed someone my horse/donkey pic, and they said the animal might be a Mule or a Hinny which is a cross between a horse and a donkey. Well, ya learn something new everyday, eh?

These gas prices in Arizona are ridiculously low. You'll see further down in the pics what California prices are.

Ah yes, our lovely California gas prices. NOT! Yikes!!! This is not good for my dog car trips.

Oh yeah, in AZ, there were a LOT of mosquitos out DURING THE DAY TIME!!!
What's up with that? We only have them in our area at night time. And, I did not see any body of water in AZ anywhere, no way, no sir! Maybe where we stayed in AZ, the next door neighbor had pet mosquitos in the backyard, like Hershey's neighbor has.

You had to go ALL the way there to go potty? I love to go in the car, I too like to sleep on all the blankets in the back seat, like on our 4 day trip to TX. Too bad that I only discovered the stack of blankets on the last day of the drive:( I'll have to post pics on my blog later this week.

Oh, thanks for clearing it up that the bed was a twin size one, I think it's cue who you are on the pillows at the top!

Great pictures!!

Why is the fine for ABANDONING (!!!!)an animal in the DESERT(!!!) ONLY $1,000??? It should be a lot more than that!!

We feel like we went on the trip with you! So many interesting things to see. Mom said it reminded her of the times she has driven across country. The last time she did it was from California to Texas.

And we agree with Copper. Why is the fine so low for abandoning an animal in the desert? It should be a week in the desert with no food or water. Maybe they wouldn't ever do it again!!

Hi Hana, I think you are so lucky to be able to go on a roadtrip with your parents. In our country, it is very small compared to yours, and J always said that the drive from one end to the other will take only 1 hr. How I envy you!

Wow Hana, that looks like a great trip!! You are so lucky to even be able to go on "business" trips!

The picture of you sleeping on your blankies in the car is so angelic.

There sure were some interesting signs on the way. I'm an expert at catching KILLER BEES by the way LOL!

ps. LOVE your lunch box

Love nibbles,

Ender, I had a lot of business to take care of, including pee stops at every car stop we made. My DNA is in CA and AZ, and Oregon of course since I was born there. I still have to catch up with you though. You have marked in more states than I have! And, wowwie zowwie! $1.99 for a gallon of gasoline? That is more than ridiculously low! Maybe I will do a survey to see what dog car gas prices are where everyone lives.

Copper, oh yes, I had forgotten I was going to blog more about the crazy $1,000 for abandoning an animal. The fine should be billions of trillions of millions of dollars!!

Dachsies Rule, where did your mom live when she was in California? I think the fine for abandoning an animal IN THE DESERT should be billions of trillions of millions of dollars, PLUS a week in the desert with no food or water!

Jay, oh Jay. It's too bad it only takes 1 hour for you to go around your country. But, your parents could go around and around and around just to make it a long car ride. Or, maybe you should move over here. Some people take as short as a week to go from the US west coast to the US east coast. Of course, it would take me much longer since I'd have to stop to let my dad out to pee every few hours.

Boo, the drive was about 12 hours. I don't really know the exact number of hours because we kept stopping. Your mom and dad should take you on a long drive, and then just stop every so often. You could try a short trip first to see how you do.

Fu Fu, I'm glad you asked whether I saw other doggies! I DID! But, not in the desert, thank dogness. At the house we stayed at, while I was doing business in the backyard, I saw a MAMMOTH sized Marmaduke dog! The dog was huge! I thought he was like 8 feet tall!! Definitely taller than me. Do you know who Marmaduke is? He is a comic strip character. Other than that, I really didn't see any other doggies. I think it's too hot for them to be running around during the daytime. Arizona is much hotter than California.

Miss Sunshade, I luv my lunchbox too! It always has good treats in it! Hee hee, I make my parents carry my lunchbox. Do you really catch KILLER BEES? You are my HERO! I will call upon you to rescue me if I ever get in a pickle with some killer bees! You are definitely a better more heroic and prettier dog than that Solo dog. I'd rather be your friend than Solo's even if Solo has the prestigious title of Westminster blah-de-blah, though that title isn't bad to have.

Indy, someone had seen the pic of me on the bed, and they thought the bed was a QUEEN SIZED bed! Oh my dogness, it was NOT a Queen sized bed, so I always have to make a point of stating it was just a TWIN.

Casper, yes, road trips are fun, but when it's all business, sometimes it isn't as fun as it could be. Before I brought my camera along, I cleared out the old pics that I had downloaded before, but I kept the video of you on my camera. You were so cute on our second date! I love watching that video over and over again.

Hana, you are soooooooooooooo cute! I would love to be your friend and play with you and attack you and wrestle with you!

I love blankies too! And I really like your picture on top of the blankies in the car -- you look very comfy.

I agree with you about the millions of trillions of billions of dollars for the fine for animal abandonment. I'd like to add immediate capital punishment to that fine too!

Hana,

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to Arizona. It looked like your car seat was very comfy. The girl never puts blankets in the car for us! It's also really cool that you got your own bed. It never crossed my mind that you can sleep on the pillows like that. I will have to try it some time.

Next time you come to Arizona maybe you can visit me.
